How we work in the community

In the community

We work with communities to reduce the effects that they have on the environment. Many of our projects help specific social groups, from housing associations to religious congregations.

We have a unique approach to how we work with communities. Our programmes have social and environmental benefits, are proven to work, and are endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). They can help reduce the effects that people have on the environment in a number of ways:

Practical change and activities which make a real difference

  • We work across all areas of sustainability including food, energy, water, and rubbish.
  • Our programmes are measured so the difference a community makes to the environment and their bills is clear.
  • We achieve a shift in behaviour, so that effects are long-lasting for the community and everyone involved.
  • We bring fresh thinking, so a community can build on what's in place or start something new.

Community-based programmes

Our EverGreen project was designed to enable community groups, such as housing association residents, to make a positive contribution to the future of the environment.

Our EcoTeams project is a long-established and effective programme. Easy, fun and effective, it unites people who want to come together to learn about the environment and how to change their everyday lifestyles for the better.
