Global Action Plan & Team Green Britain
Global Action Plan & Team Green Britain
As EDF Energy’s charity partner for the second year running, Global Action Plan is once again playing a part in Green Britain Day on 17 June.
Being a part of it
Green Britain Day is the focal point for Team Green Britain - EDF Energy’s campaign of events and initiatives to help Britain get together, have fun and reduce our shared carbon footprint before the Olympics in 2012.
Global Action Plan's EcoTeams is a central part of the campaign. Last year over 30,000 people asked to hear from us, and this year we are hoping even more will sign up.
Not only does the campaign let us reach lots of people and help them to act. It also lets us be just a little bit glamorous. For once.
The celebs
This year we went to a very famous footballer’s home to show him and his wife how to reduce their environmental impacts at home. They’re now growing some of their own food, getting mucky with a wormery, and will be buying vintage clothes to wear to star-studded events.
Then we taught a popstar how to drive more efficiently using our Eco Driving Simulator. This should help her reduce her fuel usage and CO2 emissions by 16%. Wonder if she’ll write a song about it…
Team Up days
At the end of the summer we‘ll be running a series of ‘Team Up’ days across the country. Anyone who signs up to Team Green Britain will be invited.
We want as many people as possible to get involved, make a difference, measure how far they have come, and encourage friends and families to join them.
We’ll also be visiting lots of EDF Energy’s sites to engage their employees on environmental issues. We’ll use our EcoInteractive exhibits and let them know how else they can be involved in our ongoing partnership as ambassadors, fundraisers, volunteers and more.
Our partnership
We have worked with EDF Energy for over a year and enjoy the experience. Luckily for us, the feeling is mutual. They have extended what was supposed to be a one year partnership for at least another year:
Global Action Plan is an inspirational, proactive and practical partner. They work effectively at both a strategic and operational level and are working alongside us in our steps to becoming a more sustainable organisation. The team really demonstrate true, modern partnership values. Eva Eisenschimmel, Chief Officer, People, Organisation and Brand Performance, EDF Energy
