In your community
We have developed specific packages to help local authorities extend their reach within communities, enabling them to work on a variety of environmental initiatives.
Additionally we acknowledge it will be the most economically and socially disadvantaged who will be hit hardest by climate change, and so we have developed specific programmes through which local authorities can work with these groups in the community.
Households
EcoTeams brings groups of 6-8 households together and leads them through a programme of practical environmental change. The EcoTeams programme has been developed so that local authorities can brand the initiative to give it a local identity and localised results can be drawn from our database.
Independent research has shown that EcoTeams has helped households to:
- reduce CO2 emissions by 16.6%
- reduce energy and water bills by £170 a year
Social housing
Our EverGreen programme provides tailored support to people in social housing. Our community-based approach builds confidence and connections with households before helping them to create schemes that meet local needs such as local food initiatives, energy efficiency projects and waste reduction schemes.

Schools
Schools can be central drivers for environmental change in any community. We have over 15 years experience delivering school-based projects that increase the quality of learning, save money and cut environmental impacts. Current national projects include Appetite for Action.

Youth unemployment
Unemployment levels amongst young people are rising. Climate Squad is designed to help young people create volunteering opportunities that will benefit the local community, reduce carbon emissions and give new skills and confidence that will help them to secure employment.

Small businesses
Small businesses are key to the economic well-being of any community yet their need for high quality environmental support is often ignored. We provide a range of services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), many of which are subsidised by European grants.
Support includes helping SMEs implement environmental management systems, providing expert mentors, offering guidance on green ICT, and establishing local carbon clubs.

Local charities
Climate change is already with us and it is important for local community-based organisations to be aware of the implications and to start planning their strategy accordingly.
Global Action Plan’s Climate Change Adaptation project has been specifically created for charities and helps them to create adaptation plans easily and quickly.
