Panasonic uses our eco driving simulator to boost their Global Eco Relay campaign.

In November 2009 our eco driving simulators and educator team travelled to Panasonic’s Northampton and Bracknell sites to take part in Panasonic’s Global Eco Relay campaign.  

The Global Action Plan eco driving simulator enabled us to deliver a themed event that drew attention to our environmental policy in a fun and involving way, and as a result is more likely to produce lasting change. Simon Eves, General Manager - Environmental Affairs, Panasonic UK Ltd

In 2007 Panasonic announced its ‘eco idea’ strategy which was designed to realise the business vision of “coexistence with the global environment.”

The Global Eco Relay campaign aims to enable Panasonic employees to think about eco ideas which can be put into practice, to bolster the unity of employees globally, and to encourage the spread of environmental activities across the world.

Results

At Panasonic’s sites in Northampton and Bracknell the eco driving activity provided a real focus for the campaign’s themes of cutting fuel use, cost and carbon dioxide emissions in everyday driving.
 
The Global Action Plan educator team were on hand to provide advice and to help users make the connection between more fuel efficient driving and climate change.

The most improved driver and winner of the eco driver leader board received a bottle of champagne.

What is an eco driving simulator?

Global Action Plan’s eco driving simulator is a racing game with a difference. Realistic yet fun, the simulator shows people how to drive in an environmentally-friendly way whilst competing against one another.

Users quickly learn how to make their driving more fuel efficient, as well as safer, through better anticipation and making simple changes to their vehicles.

Each eco driving simulator features three screens and a set of sophisticated driving controls, together with a variety of simulations to choose from.
