Appetite for Action
Appetite for Action
Appetite for Action is an educational website for primary schools. It is all about food, the environment and taking action. The programme was developed with Sky, our corporate partner.
There was also a great deal of input to Appetite for Action from teachers, to make sure it was just right for them. It offers schools access to a range of free resources. From lesson plans and fact sheets through to activity ideas and films. These will help students to:
- reduce food waste
- understand composting
- reduce waste to landfill
- grow their own fruit and vegetables

Schools can choose to take part in a challenge around food, waste or growing. Pupils will get the opportunity to create a team profile on the Appetite for Action website, measure their activities, develop a blog on actions taken, and search out other schools taking part.
Join the competition to win £3,000
There’s also the opportunity for pupils to take part in a competition to reduce their school’s carbon footprint, with a chance to win £3,000 and a visit from Sky News to their school for the day.
All schools who take part in a challenge will receive a United Nations Environment Programme certificate (UNEP).
A winning partnership
Appetite for Action is part of the three-year partnership between Sky and Global Action Plan. The partnership aims to raise over £1 million for Global Action Plan.
Sky’s resources and experience help Global Action Plan to reach out across the UK and Ireland, inspiring people to make positive changes in their daily lives to address climate change.
